Crime: 14 February 2011

I do hope the postman delivered appropriate cards and packages this morning !

Just to show how valuable we are to both the police and the community – this just shows that we really are the eyes and ears of the police.
A member of NHW has received my messages about suspicious people stealing cabling from under the road. and believed they saw this happening. They thought the men were acting in a suspicious manner – even though they had High Viz Jackets which where logo’d up. The men had lifted a manhole cover and were pulling cabling up. This is the good bit – as the witness thought it was odd – just in case – they took photos on their mobile phone of the men, their van and details of the Index plate ! It appears their suspicions were exactly right and they were stealing the cable ! How brilliant was that – we now have photos of the thieves, the van and its index ! bear this in mind while you are out and about – particularly if you have a mobile phone with a camera. Think – JUST IN CASE ! particularly flatbeds or other cars / people moving slowly around your area. A photo is brilliant for us. We have so few persistent offenders, we can recognise someone from their posture alone !

That is why the police and RBWM support us – we earn our keep/ Well done that NHW member !

CRIME:
BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY, THE WALTHAMS, LITTLEWICK GREEN & KNOWL HILL:

4/2 – 5/2 Caravan Park, Mill Lane, Holiday home broken into – garden equipment and golf clubs stolen.
12/2 Saturday 8.30 p.m. / 10.30 p.m. The Straight Mile, Shurlock Row. Metal gates stolen – 6ft X 12 ft. Did you walk / drive past when this was happening.
11/2 Friday Green Lane, Littlewick Green. Burglary via forced rear window – cameras, video cameras, laptops & jewellery stolen. No-one should have real jewellery stolen in the Royal Borough. It should always be hidden in your home in a place it would take a thief more than 5 minutes to find. You know your house best where there is a little hidy hole you can store it – that you would remember ! It must never be left in a jewellery box on the dressing table, in the bedside cabinets, in a fake bake bean tin in kitchen cabinets. Be imaginative – its not hard. The thief will never have been in your home before – a hiding place it would take him more than 5 minutes to find cannot be impossible !
13/2 Sunday midnight. Butchers Lane, White Waltham. Transit driver’s window smashed – mobile phone, wallet stolen. You have to ask why both these items were left in the van ?

BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK:

You can only break in using the letterbox method, if the door is not double locked. Double lock the door and it cannot happen – it could not be simpler than asking residents to lock their houses at night !
