Crime: 5 April 2011

At last as crime has been so low over the entire LPA - I can do a crime message for the whole area !

A really good week so far:

I am often told ‘I don’t need to know what is happening elsewhere, I only want to know what is happening in my road’. If our opportunist thieves restricted their activities to one small area, that could be true. Unfortunately – they don’t. They don’t recognise parish, nor district boundaries, but offend wherever an opportunity appears. Sometimes, it is useful to see what is going on elsewhere – it could be your street tomorrow. As the crime is opportunistic, as soon as one area suffers and toughens up, opportunities dry up – the thieves simply move on to pastures new. Someone somewhere is not being sensible / making a mistake – not locking their car – not locking up their house at night. How many times do you read in my Ringmaster messages – house / car left INSECURE, house / car entered BY UNKNOWN MEANS, Letterbox entry. As long as thos e opportunities exist and the thieves do not even have to break in, but can simply open a car / patio / rear / door handle – crime will persist and the same offenders, will move from area to area. Maidenhead today – Windsor tomorrow – it means nothing to them. They will have stolen the petrol in a ‘Bilking’ anyway, from a local garage.
