Crime: 6 April 2011

THERE WERE NO BURGLARIES ACROSS THE ENTIRE LPA – THAT’S WINDSOR, MAIDENHEAD & ASCOT, IN THE LAST 24 HOURS.
Most of our most prolific offenders are ‘away’ at the moment.

Working together we can really achieve so much. It needs information and intelligence from you followed up by good and effective policing from us. The JUST IN CASE ! campaign has been brilliant. The police have been out and about stop checking all the flatbeds you send in. Those people now know we are aware of their presence in our communities throughout the day – that will be a deterrent. Hopefully the crime stats show this. The Area Commander, Supt Tim De Meyer, always emphasises that a reduction in crime is not merely a statistic. He likes to think of it in human terms, a drop in crimes means less victims, less lives disrupted, people feeling safer in their homes as well as when out and about.

I have just had a call from a member to say she had just put the phone down on another of the Microsoft scam telephone calls. An American voice explained that they could see from their server that she was having problems with her computer – she asked what ? ‘Strange messages’ ? The man suggested she needed better anti-virus software and could help with that. She explained, his call was very timely as by pure flook she had a Neighbourhood Police Officer with her at that very moment – could she hand the phone over to him ? The line went dead !!!
