Crime:
23 May 2011
Not
a bad weekend.
I put a Witness request out last week
for PC Denise Jenkins about an elderly woman who was scammed and had her
bank account cleared out. Thanks to NHW, a potential witness has come
forward in response to the message. We are really grateful.
CRIME:
BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY, THE WALTHAMS, LITTLEWICK GREEN & KNOWL HILL:
21/5 – 23/5 Saturday 6 p.m. / Monday 8.45 a.m. Strande Park,
Cookham Rise. A hole was made in the fuel tank and petrol siphoned out. As
fuel prices rise we may see more of this crime. Please be alert for it.

Rise. Car rear passenger quarter light smashed – laptop left on rear
seat stolen.

fortunately the gas was turned off at the meter before it was cut away.
22/5 Sunday 1.15 a.m. / 1.30 a.m. Heywood Court Close.
Witness saw a lad pick up a wheelie bin and throw it at a car causing
damage.
RIVERSIDE & BELMONT:
21/5 Saturday 11.20 p.m. Switchback Road South. Burglary
via insecure kitchen door – Mobile and TV taken and ready to go when the
owner disturbed the thief, who immediately made off. Please
make sure all your doors and windows are shut and locked – particularly
if it is dark and you are not in that room. It sounds like very basic
advice – but houses must be locked at night when you go to bed !!!!
19/5 - 21/5 8.10 p.m. / 10 p.m. Switchback Road South.
Burglary via forced side window – jewellery stolen. . As
you know – jewellery should never be left in bedside cabinets, nor in a
jewellery box on a dressing table. Cash and car keys likewise ! Hide it
somewhere it would take a thief more than 5 minutes to find. You know your
house best, you will know where that is – BUT – you will have to
remember where that was ! No keys left in doors visible through windows
and NO wracks of keys near the back door either, with lovely labels –
front door, back door, Mr. Smith and No. 5 !!!!!
22/5 Sunday 4.30 p.m. Abingdon Walk. A witness saw 2 lads
walking along the road looking into cars. One of the lads tried a car door
handle. The door was open and he climbed in. He then got out and walked
away. The witness had called the police who attended immediately. 2 lads
arrested.
21/5 – 22/5 Saturday 11.45 p.m. / Sunday 7.50 a.m. Cookham Road
X 2. Rear garden fence damaged. House nearby Burglary via INSECURE
front door – garage door entered 3 bikes stolen.
22/5 Sunday 4 a.m. / 5.40 a.m. Ray Park Road. Bike
stolen.
21/5 Saturday 11.15 p.m. Donnington Gardens X 2. Burglary
via small smashed rear window – The thief was seen inside the house and
disturbed – he made off via the rear door into the back garden of a
neighbouring property. Laptop and Wii stolen. The police were called and
deployed the helicopter, but the thief was not located. Can
everyone check hedges and behind garden walls in the area in case the
thief stashed the stolen items in case he ws stopped and arrested. He
would collect them later when the coast was quiet. The
owner of a house nearby heard a disturbance and went to investigate. As
she walked into the kitchen she saw the door handle turn – she disturbed
them and when she looked out of a window saw a man climbing the garden
fence into next door.
INNER MAIDENHEAD:
22/5 Sunday Nicholson’s Lane. A lad jumped onto an
insecured bike and rode off.
OLDFIELD & BRAY:
23/5 Monday 1 a.m. Homestead Road. About 5 cars damaged.
Windscreens smashed.
22/5 Sunday 6.15 p.m. Brunel Road. Stones thrown from the
railway line, smashing a window.
21/5 – 22/5 Saturday 1.30 a.m. / Sunday 7 a.m. Fane Way.
6 windows of a coach smashed with bricks. Did you see or hear this ?
20/5 – 21/5 Friday / Saturday Ascot Road, Holyport.
Insecure tractor shed broken into – portable generator and power washer
stolen.
PINKNEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT:
22/5 Sunday 7.15 p.m. / 7.45 p.m. Cannon Court Road. The
owner of a car is sure he locked it before leaving it. Thieves entered by
unknown means and stole his wallet and SAT NAV. Police officers attended
immediately. A neighbour reported seeing 2 lads acting suspiciously nearby
at the time one with a rucksack, both on BMX bikes. The police carried out
an area search. 2 lads were located nearby who matched the description
given and they were arrested. It is
vital to report anyone you see acting suspiciously to the police on the
0845 8 505 505 number. You never know if someone a street away has
reported a crime. We need a really good description of the people / car so
that when we carry out an area search we can identify the individuals. We
can arrest anyone that matches the description given. As you can see, for
us to carry out an ‘Area Search’ we need to do it quickly before the
offenders have had an opportunity to get too far. We need to be able to
prove a ‘chain of causality’ between the offence and their arrest.
Jigsaw principle – you don’t know which piece of the jigsaw you have
– we have the picture on the lid – let us make the decision.
22/5 Sunday Blenheim Road. Offensive
graffiti sprayed over a house. If you saw this happening it would be the
time to dial 999 – a crime in progress – Graffiti is Criminal damage.
22/5 Sunday 4.50 a.m. Murrin Road. Burglary. The owner
was at home watching TV with the house unlocked. He heard the back door
open and saw torchlight. He shouted and the intruders immediately made
off. He went to the front and saw 2 people making off on bikes – nothing
stolen. Even when you are at home, front
and rear doors should be locked – particularly when it gets dark. As the
lighter evenings arrive we tend to leave rear doors and windows open –
even if we are not in those rooms.
21/5 – 22/5 Saturday 7 p.m. / Sunday 11 a.m. Cranbrook Drive.
A hole was made in the fuel tank and petrol siphoned out. As fuel prices
rise we may see more of this crime. Please be alert for it.
