Crime:
10 June 2011
Serious Acquisitive Crime is well
down on last year. We have had an internal re-organisation now that we are
a standalone Local Police Area (LPA) and have created a local CID and
Violent Crime Team. They have been working brilliantly since they were set
up, taking on and investigating crimes.
We though need to do our bit to assist them phoning through
anything suspicious if something draws your attention it is
suspicious. Rely on your instincts. If you do not feel it sufficient for
the PEC on 0845 8 505 505, email it
through to me on the Ringmaster intel line:
ringmasterintelligen@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk
AND of course JUST

Just a reminder about an incident which took place yesterday. A
man walked into an office and confused the person behind the desk, with
some papers which they laid out over her desk. After talking for a few
minutes, they gattered all the papers up together with a mobile phone
which had been laying on the desk ! This is a common summer scam in the
town centres. A tourist comes up with a map which they lay on the table
covering mobile phones. They ask for directions then gather the map
and phone back up and walk away ! This man is described as possibly
Easterne European from his accent about 19 / 20 years old, 55,
slight build, short dark hair in a fluorescent green T shirt and jeans.
Watch your mobile and dont leave it on display on a table while having
a coffee in public view. If this type of thing there may be many forms
of the scam, but it always includes paper covering the phone you
have been warned.
