Crime:
6 July 2011
NO
BURGLARIES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS.
We are all working hard to achieve
this low level of crime. We do need you to assist us by reporting
suspicious people / cars asap. Often we only hear that there was a
suspicious person going up and down driveways / flatbed in the road a few
days before - when we do house to house enquiries – after a crime has
taken place. People say they do not want to bother us, or it may be
nothing. If it was nothing, you would not have noticed it nor had your
attention drawn. Please let us be the judge – just phone it through as
‘intelligence’. 0845 8 505 505
LEAD
THEFTS:
I will be setting up a specific
watch, to warn possible targets, about lead / metal thefts and I will send
out specific warning messages and advice. The aim is to prevent the crime
prevention advice, being lost amongst the car crime and burglaries. I need
to locate everyone who should be in that group. If you are on the
management group of any local churches / community buildings in the area
that have quantities of lead, can you email me with the contact details of
the person who should be in that watch - it may well be you. If you live
in a road where there is a building / porch / garage / extension with a
quantity of visible lead, can you make contact with the owner and pass on
my details, so that they can also register. As you will see below, it is
not only churches and village halls that are being targeted. Farms, pubs,
theatres and domestic buildings are also being targeted. We want to find
an effective method of spreading prevention advice, to those that need it.
Your help is very much appreciated. Please send the contact details to me
on the intel line:
ringmasterintelligen@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk
There are things that can be done - lead
paint which does not dry, but remains sticky and is very hard to remove
from hands and clothing, to lead substitutes for flat roofs and flashing.
We are happy to offer that advice.
CRIME:
BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY, THE WALTHAMS, LITTLEWICK GREEN & KNOWL HILL:
4/7 – 5/7 Monday / Tuesday Café, Station Hill. Thieves
smashed the glass in the front door and climbed in. They stole the till
containing the float. Presumably they will discard the till somewhere. Can
everyone be on the lookout for it in hedges and bushes, as it may contain
forensic evidence / fingerprints etc.
5/7 Tuesday Farm, Church Hill, White Waltham. Lead
flashing stolen from the roof of a granary building. For thieves to locate
lead in remote buildings like this, they must be driving around
continually looking for opportunities. It’s those vans / cars / people
we need to know about.
5/7 Tuesday 2.23 a.m. Pub on the Bath Road. Their CCTV
shows the thieves parking up in Cherry Garden Lane and approaching on
foot. They moved and climbed on a bench, to try and reach the lead
flashing. The manager heard and disturbed them and they immediately made
off, leaving the lead dangling. Later, they came back and stole it.
BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK:
No crime to report.
RIVERSIDE & BELMONT:
6/7 Wednesday 3.40 a.m. Raymond Road. A resident
phoned to say that they could see lads walking down the road, trying car
door handles. This is exactly the type of call we need to
receive. Plain clothes police officers responded immediately and attended
the road. As the police car entered
the road, the saw 2 lads immediately make off. As the witness had given
excellent descriptions of the lads and the clothes they were wearing, the
police officers carried out an area search and located one lad who matched
the description was located in College Road and arrested. The other was
later located and arrested. As you can see a full description is vital –
particularly clothing. By the time the police get there, the offenders may
well be several streets away. We really need a good description to
question and arrest them. If they are wearing a jacket we need to know
what they were wearing underneath. If they believe they have been seen
they will remove the jacket to look different. Tattoos or distinguishing
marks are vital !
5/7 Tuesday 10 a.m. / 12.30 p.m. Lock Avenue. Car
driver’s door lock forced – power tools stolen. A witness remembered
seeing a white Renault Kangoo acting suspiciously at the time. That is
exactly what we need to be reported to us at the time. It is useful later,
but we only found out, because we went around asking for information.
INNER MAIDENHEAD:
No crime to report.
OLDFIELD & BRAY:
No crime to report
PINKNEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT:
4/7 – 5/7 Monday 9 p.m. / Tuesday 8 a.m. Blenheim Road.
Car vandalised.
