Crime:
5 September 2011
Not
a bad weekend, but we seem to be targeted for bike thefts - particularly
in Windsor. If you see anyone acting suspiciously near bikes please phone
it through immediately particularly if you see a set of bolt croppers
being used. These look like a large pair of pliers, used to cut through a
chain.
Just before I deal with Crime I have received an email from one of our
members regarding a phone call she thought was suspicious. I will let her
tell it:
Hi Jeff,
It may be nothing, but I had bad vibes from a phone call I have
just had. I had a call from a man with a (?) Filipino accent on
087121881191 at just before 9pm this evening. He claimed to be
offering me a Government grant in respect of the property I live in (he
specified my address). He hung up (politely), when I told him (not very
politely) that it was none of his business, whether I was a tenant.
I see on
http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/087121881191
that others have also had bad vibes about calls from this number.
Stephanie
I was not aware of this website, but having looked at it, thought it was
an address you should keep as a favourite for just this situation.
Many thanks Stephanie

we stop check our known offenders and they may well be in possession of
items we believe to be stolen. Unless they have been reported to us, we
have to hand the items back and cannot press charges. ALSO, all reported
crimes, provide us with a pattern. If you dont report crimes, we have
gaps in our analysis and knowledge. Knowing that there had been a theft
from in Cookham Road on a particular night, may well have been a piece of
the jigsaw we needed. It may also be that the person who did this, has
been arrested for a series of offences but not this one a missed
opportunity.
