SCAMS:

I have just been sent this email – Friday afternoon - and thought it worthy of adding to today’s message.  This type of message, has been received quite frequently by members.  The actual text changes, but it usually refers to a personal tragedy.  In all cases, the names used are real and taken from your own personal address books.

This message is the result of a virus / worm / trojan in your computer.  You may not know your computer is infected, until you start to get calls and emails from your friends.

If this happens to you check your anti virus software.  If you receive one from someone you know – the English alone should alert you that it is a scam:

Hi Jeff

This is a really nasty con, although they have to nobble your computer first. It comes from someone you know which helps the believability. My neighbour had a similar one a few weeks back and was in the process of sending the money but luckily checked with Western Union.
