Crime: 11 January 2012

Please have a look at the crimes below – particularly the theft from a car in Sherbourne Drive. Fortunately someone reported 2 lads acting suspiciously to us and we therefore..... have their names and addresses !!!! When the officers attended we had no idea a crime had actually taken place. When it was phoned through – we had 2 suspects !!!!

Secondly, we, and it is down to our work in NHW, are making some progress re tracker systems on mobile phones. Judging from the crime reports I read, the PEC is now asking everyone who has a touch screen phone, if they have a tracker app downloaded – they are also asking anyone who has an IPAD stolen ! The response though has been less than encouraging. Most – even those with very expensive I Phones, were not aware of these Apps ! Can we all spread the message ??? I have attached a brief App summary, but my IT volunteer Guru, Paul Hay has written a much more detailed guide, which I will be circulating shortly.

CRIME:
BISHAM, COOKHAM, HURLEY, THE WALTHAMS, LITTLEWICK GREEN & KNOWL HILL:

9/1 – 10/1 Monday 11 p.m. / Tuesday 3.30 a.m. Pub, Littlefield Green, White Waltham. Front door kicked in and building searched – cash box and cash stolen.
10/1 Tuesday 4.30 p.m. / 5.30 p.m. West Street. Car driver’s window left slightly open – mobile stolen.

BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK:
boynhillcoxgreennhpt@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk

10/1 Tuesday 6.15 p.m. Lambourne Drive. Burglary. The owner returned home and heard loud noises from the rear of the house. As they went to investigate, they saw 2 men running past the patio windows, away from the property. They also heard loud bangs from the garage roof as they made off – nothing stolen.
9/1 – 10/1 Monday 6 p.m. – Tuesday 8.30 a.m. Sherbourne Drive. Call from the owner of a car - entered 'without damage' – items were moved around and sunglasses stolen.

During the previous evening, a resident from the road – possibly one of our members, they acted so well – phoned the police to say there were 2 lads in the road, acting suspiciously, trying car door handles – for me a 999 call ! Our grateful thanks to that person – well done ! The police attended immediately and carried out an area search, locating 2 lads, matching the descriptions. Because we had good descriptions, the police could stop check and search them. Nothing was found on them, but their names and addresses were taken. Nearby, the 2 officers found a pair of sunglasses (which were the ones stolen from the car) and some gloves. At that time, there were no reports of cars being broken into, so the lads were released. In the morning the call came in about the 'theft from'…….As a result of an eagle eyed NHW member, (we hope, but will claim it anyway), we have the names and addresses of 2 suspects !

That is how it works. The person who phoned did not know if a crime had taken place, but took the active initiative, to protect themselves and their neighbours. Later, the crime was revealed. It could have been a burglary, it could have been nothing. You can see the benefits of a simple phone call !!!  IF IN DOUBT - CALL ANYWAY - 101
9/1 – 10/1 Monday 5.30 p.m. / Tuesday 7.30 a.m. Cherry Garden Lane. Garage break – several attempts to break in – finally jemmied the door – copper piping stolen.

8/1 – 10/1 Sunday 4 p.m. / Tuesday 11.15 a.m. Rushington Avenue. Car left INSECURE – 2 Sat Navs stolen. As you have seen above – you will not be wasting our time.
10/1 Tuesday 7 p.m. / 8.15 p.m. Pub on The Green, Holyport. Car passenger window smashed – laptop stolen.

PINKNEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT:
pinkneysgreen&furzeplattnhpt@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk

10/1 Tuesday midnight. Alwyn Road. A car was waiting in the road. 2 lads walked up to the car and one started to talk to the passenger, to distract them.  The other, reached in and stole their phone. They then ran off up an alleyway, towards Blenheim Road. They are distinctive and described as: 1. white, 18 – 23, slim, 5’10’’, wearing a grey zipped up hoody with a rough local accent.  2. white, 24 – 25, medium build, dark brown hair cut into a short back and sides, goatee beard, wearing a long sleeved black track suit top, with a large collar which covered his face. It had a white logo on the back. Again a rough local accent, consisting of ‘street talk’. The mobile was in fact an IPhone 4. The PEC asked if the owner had activated the pre-installed Apple Tracker App ? They didn’t know what this was and had never heard of it – obviously not a member of NHW !
10/1 – 11/1 Tuesday 5 p.m. / Wednesday 7 a.m. Quarry, Furze Platt Road. Yard entered and generator stolen.
10/1 Tuesday 5 p.m. Hambleden Walk. 2 fence panels damaged.
