Crime: 8 March 2012

First a big thank you for Jennifer in Walker Road, for letting us hold our NHW Start Up meeting in her home last night, luckily we had a room big enough for the huge number that turned up – what a turn out ! Welcome Walker Road, I hope you enjoyed the evening as much as I did – it shows that a NHW meeting is not as portrayed in comedy shows on TV, but is a really fun evening ! This is why I really enjoy my job !

Next a plea from someone who had their laptop stolen in an office burglary in Windsor Town Centre, on Monday. This is a reminder for us all and at our Start Up meeting last night, someone had had their IPhone stolen, containing photos etc., that can never be replaced. I would also like to point out, the offices were broken into again last night and the replacement laptops stolen ! If you have a burglary, this may happen, as the thief knows, you will replace the items stolen, once the Insurance money comes through. If you have been burgled you MUST improve your security and make sure if the thief comes back, they see improvements – an alarm box / CCTV, shiny new door locks etc. It will not be as easy as last time !!!

Hi Jeff,
I am one of the victims of the office burglary you reported yesterday and one of the laptops stolen was mine. It's a Compaq, worth no more than £50 to anyone but, it has some very dear photos of my father, who passed away a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, they were not backed up.

This plea will probably not mean much to anyone, but this theft has left me very depressed. If you can ask anyone, or send a mail shot out asking if anyone gets offered a grey 4 year old COMPAQ with the number 7 key missing and no battery, to please let me know - I will pay a reward for it.

Shami

Please remember this message and back up everything you don’t want to lose. My tecchy son purchased me space on Flikr – a web based photo storage system - several are available, so that all my photos are safe, if any of my hard drive’s go (even external hard drives go apparently) – I can also access and grant access to them, from anywhere. This message also applies for jewellery at home. Please do not leave out in a jewellery box or bedside cabinet, any jewellery you are not prepared to lose, if you have a burglary. Valuable / sentimental items must be hidden somewhere, it would take a thief more than 5 minutes to find !

We have received an alert about a bracelet made out of poisonous red beans ! They need to be destroyed - photo attached !

7/3 Wednesday 10.10 a.m. Grenfell Road.  A woman was walking along the road and sat on a wall to get her breath. She placed her handbag on the ground beside her. A young lad walked up and as she looked the other way, he snatched her handbag and ran off. He is described as white, light ginger hair, freckles, 17 – 25 years old, skinny, cream baseball hat, grey plain hoody with a small black Nike tick logo in the corner, grey jeans with a hint of white, black trainers with a gold Nike tick logo. What a brilliant description !  I hope we would all be as observant in the split second it takes for something like this to happen. Any info please to the PEC on 101, quoting URN 1825 of the 7th March. The handbag – black – may have been discarded somewhere nearby. If you find it, please let us know on 101 – If it is dry, please handle it with care, to protect any forensic evidence

First a note from Sgt Colin Pike from Ascot, about a white van going around his area selling garden furniture from the back. Colin refers to Hancocks Mount, but the van, or another very similar van, has also been reported in Windsor and Maidenhead !

Jeff,

The attached card has been left by a caller working in Hancocks Mount Yesterday. Trying to sell garden furniture. Using a white Luton type van poss index AV56 YAN. If the van is seen or anyone is approached can they call us via the 101 number please so that we can check it out. It may well be legitimate, but we need to speak to the driver.
Sgt Colin Pike.

Hi Jeff,

I had a phone call the other day to say that I had a problem with my PC and it needed to be rectified, I asked the caller if he would at first do something for me re the call, he said yes so I asked him for his name, company name and his phone number so I could contact the local police station. Guess what, the phone went dead.

Keep up the good work.

Regards

Peter
