Below are details of a DISTRACTION BURGLARY in Sunninghill. We have not had a Distraction burglary anywhere in the Borough, for months and months – in fact, I cannot remember the last one !. Can everyone be alert, aware, support and look after elderly / vulnerable neighbours, or those that live alone – that is what we do as members of NHW ! We do it because we care.

22/3 Thursday 8.30 p.m. Victoria Road. DISTRACTION BURGLARY. The owners were at home when they heard a knock at the door. They were expecting a carer, so the door was closed on the catch – not locked. They heard a noise and when they looked up, the door opened and three men walked in, shutting the door behind them. One said – I am from Thames Valley Police. We have had a report of an intruder in your rear garden. He pulled out a plastic wallet which appeared to contain an ID and flashed it at the owner very quickly. He then said – we need to search the house and the 2nd and 3rd men scattered around the house. The Owner then became suspicious, when he heard his mother call out from upstairs. He immediately reached for the phone to dial 999. the men then immediately ran out of the house and made off. A small amount of cash had been stolen from his mother’s purse. They are described as:
1. White, Irish, late 30s / early 40s, medium build, clean shaven wearing a dark grey waterproof jacket with light blue jeans – he smelt of alcohol.
2. White, Irish, 50s, clean shaven, very thin skeletal face, very pale complexion, 6’, very thin, possibly bald wearing a dark grey jacket and blue jeans. He also smelt of alcohol
3. White, Irish, 25, 5’4’’, 25 years old, plumper, clean shaven with a double chin wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.
