I put out a message from the Borough yesterday detailing the route of the Torch Relay next Tuesday.  The Link was not quite right – here is the correct Link:

A recycling bin was stolen last night in Ascot .  This incident may sound simple enough – BUT – we must all remember what we put in recycling bins – any personal paperwork, must be torn into quarters, so that it cannot be used to steal your identity.  Bank statements, Barclaycard statements business accounts – anything that would give someone private details about our lives, must really be torn into small pieces, before being put in the bins.

We have been working with Mike re a speeding issue in his road.  Often people just come to us and say they want something done, their road is used as a rat run.  I have copied in an email from Mike below, showing just what he has done.  This has brought everyone on side.  The RBWM Community Wardens and the local Neighbourhood Team now have a rough idea of when to deploy the Community Speed Watch gun to establish exactly how bad the problem is.  The Borough will – as a result of Mike’s work, put in the radar device which records all car movements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This produces a spreadsheet of every car driving down the road with time, date, direction and speed.  If you believe you have a problem with speeding in your road, it may well be perception / noise from the tyres, rather than actual speed.  Your local NAG / RBWM Community Warden, Neighbourhood Team will happily work with you to resolve the issue.  Have a look at the work Mike has done – it is impressive !

The monthly ‘Neighbourhood Updates’ are going online at the TVP Website at the moment.  Check the links under your Neighbourhood Team Group Email Address below to see if yours has been posted yet.

I have recently received the below email, which is clearly a scam, but I have not received one quite like this before, so am forwarding it on for information.
My concern is the paragraph regarding accruing charges, which some people may be concerned about and respond as a result.

SPEEDING ISSUE IN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD:

Jeff, Neighbourhood Team, RBWM Community Wardens

Firstly I would just like to thank you for your potential interest in this 'project'.

As you may know, I have had a mail return from my initial survey of residents of 93%.  This broken down, is 86% Positive that we need some form of action / help , 7% Negative and 7% No response at all.

I have surveyed the 86% for in-puts as to the worst times and before I relay this data, I would like to add a comment that over the past few weeks the noted incidents of erratic / speeding vehicles, has seemed to slow , not hugely but in a small way. We put this down to 2 reasons a) We are in holiday period and b) There has been a lot of work by builders in the Road recently, which has meant lorries / vans parked on each side of the road making 'natural' chicanes !

This said, there is no real pattern of speeding other than from say
7am - 10am weekday and again 4pm - 7pm weekday . Also during the late evenings, both weekdays and weekends, from 9pm and often to 1 a.m. , or 2a.m. , in the morning.

Because of the variations of time and day, it would seem most appropriate, if this can be agreed, to set up a static camera survey to log traffic along this road 24/7 for say 1 or 2 weeks; But I would venture to suggest / request that maybe this could be done after the summer vacation period ending say mid Sept ?

I would like to add that in the past 2 years or so, there have been (to my personal knowledge) two potentially bad accidents in the Road. One where a car overturned (after speeding) at one end and demolished a wall outside number 59 and another speeding car which missed the right angle turn at the other end of the Road and ended up in the garden of a house, narrowly avoiding the house itself .

Given the above, I would, on behalf of the 86% of residents, really appreciate your consideration and advice as to how we can start to move forward on this.
