SHED BREAKS:

Hi Jeff

Just wondering if a short video showing how quickly a shed door can be removed, by undoing the hinges ? I reckon it could be done in seconds by two people, working on one hinge each, the screws are never locked tight, I have put ‘clutch’ screws on both mine and my mothers sheds and it was quite scary just how easy it was to undo the 8 screws, to release the door.

Just a thought of how to improve things for the future.

I wonder if some kind person would volunteer their shed for conversion ? The video doesn't need to be of any great quality.....

Also why don't the she'd manufacturers offer these as an option? Or the retailers add some sort of shed pack? ie lock hasp and clutch screws?

Hope this helps somehow

Kind regards

Tim

Well both good ideas – I have suggested to our PCSOs that they to go into any of our garden centres which sell sheds to ask if they will do this – if you are buying a shed can you ask for them ???  Any aspiring film directors out there, feel they could make a short crime prevention film ????

Another really good idea re securing anything is a wooden shed !!!

Hi Jeffrey,

I received your mail re shed thefts today and wondered if this would be of use to you. To secure bicycles in a shed where it’s difficult to get a fixing because of the wood structure, I have used a large builders bucket, which I have dropped a 1 meter long section of heavy linked chain into, leaving about 300 mm of chain out of the top.  Fill the bucket with concrete or premixed concrete, which can be bought in a bag from a diy store and leave to harden. The bike, or bikes, can then be chained to the bucket.

Its sounds a bit naff, but you try to lift the bucket it is very heavy and providing heavy welded chain is used its a pretty good anchor.

1 bucket per bike is also good.

Note..

Don’t leave hacksaws or hand grinders on show though in the shed. Hope this helps

A BRILLIANT AND VERY SIMPLE IDEA WHICH WILL NOT COST A FORTUNE !

Next a new pfishing phone call :

Jeff - A new one that I haven't had before.

"Hello, this is the electricity board.  I'm very pleased to tell you that you are to be awarded a discount on your electricity bills for the rest of your life.  Ok?"

No.  Goodbye.!

Marcia

Exactly the correct response !

Next one:

Hi Jeff

I have just had a phone call (WITHELD) from someone thanking me (my company) for supporting the Police Year Book by advertising in it last year (we didn't) and hoping we would do the same again this year.

Is there a Police Year Book that people advertise in?

Regards

Liz

The answer – not that I am aware of.  There are many magazine scams.  You buy advertising, they print enough glossy copies as they have advertisers !
