This is the message I have just put out to Ascot :

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AGES, I HAVE A BURGLARY AND SOME CAR CRIME TO REPORT.

AS YOU WILL SEE – THE 6 CARS WERE LEFT INSECURE WITH ITEMS OF VALUE INSIDE.  THE MESSAGE, IS NOT GETTING THROUGH TO EVERYONE.  WE MUST ALL DO OUR BIT AND SPREAD CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE AS FAR AND WIDE AS WE CAN.  IF WE DON’T, INSECURE CARS WILL ACT AS A ‘CRIME ATTRACTOR’ AND DRAW OPPORTUNIST THIEVES TO THE EASY PICKINGS AVAILABLE IN ASCOT .  WE ARE ONLY AS STRONG AS THE WEAKEST LINK !!!

We must all spread this message !

MEMBERS COMMENTS:

An important message from the Salvation Army:

Hello Jeff,

My name is Marion and I am the Administrator for Maidenhead Salvation Army. I am on your Neighbourhood Watch mailing list.

A gentleman has just phoned me to say a young very smart woman of colour, was seen looking round his property in Shirley Road, and when confronted, said that she worked for the Salvation Army and would be putting an envelope through the door soon and would he put a few pennies in it.  She said they were collecting for the over 75s.

I have assured him this is not how the SA operate.  Our Annual Appeal fortnight, starts very soon, where we do put collection envelopes through people’s doors, but this is not how we go about things.  I said I would report this to you and I asked him to be very wary and to contact the police on 101 to report this.

I think everyone needs to be aware and on their guard.

Kind regards

Marion

Hi Jeff

Yesterday and again today, we have received a phone call purporting to be from the ‘Ministry of Justice’ saying they have a sum of around £3000 to be refunded to us.  The female caller explained it all in detail.  We replied that they must think we're mugs.

A man called today gave us a phone number when we asked for one.  Both callers had Asian accents.

Mike
