15/9 – 17/9  Saturday midnight / Monday 2.30 p.m.   Belmont Park Avenue .  The owners bike was in an alleyway beside the house.  Someone has climbed over into to the garden and stolen it.

17/7  Monday 8.10 a.m. / 12.20 p.m.   Belmont Park Avenue .  Burglary.  Via forced ground floor window.  Untidy search.  Exited via sliding patio doors.  Nothing stolen.  Door keys must never be left in locks or where it will take a thief less than 5 minutes to find them.  If you are burgled, you don’t want the thief to be able to simply walk out loaded down with stuff.  You want them to have to climb out the way they came in – preferably over broken glass so the chances of them leaving forensic evidence is increased !

19/9  Wednesday  11 a.m.   Pinkneys Road .  A classic case.  The owner was in his front garden.  A man came up and asked him for some water as his Transit van had broken down and the radiator needed water.  The owner – leaving his jacket on a post went to the back garden to get some water.  He handed it over and the man drove off.  He then realised his house keys were missing !  All the house locks have been changed.  As I say this is a classic case.  If anyone rings your doorbell with any story whatsoever, your actions are always the same.  You are courteous and helpful to their needs – BUT – THEY DO NOT COME INSIDE YOUR HOME.  The words are always the same – ‘WAIT THERE’ – ‘I WILL GET YOU WHATEVER YOU NEED’.  You go back inside – locking the door behind you – not leaving it on the catch, and assist them in any way you can.  In 9 out of 10 cases, they will not be there when you get back.  That’s when you immediately phone the police, on the 101 number.  They could be trying the same trick on someone else, a street away, not as savvy or well informed as you !

17/9  Monday 5.50 p.m.   Hambleden Walk, Furze Platt.  Car bonnet dented.  The owner heard a loud bang followed by the alarm sounding.
