MEMBERS COMMENTS:-

I have had brilliant responses to the problem of unsolicited phone calls, in the middle of the night:-

Hi Jeff

Re the gentleman being pestered by night time international callers - he could try unplugging the phone at night for a few days and advising family / friends to use his mobile number instead.  Alternatively, accept the call but then place the handset on a side table etc and walk off for 15 minutes or so.  This costs nothing, but must be infuriating for the caller, as it ties up their line until the victim chooses to hang up !

Both these approaches have worked for us in the past.

Unfortunately, we're yet to find a successful strategy for daytime computer calls. We generally ignore unknown and withheld numbers, but if we do pick up, my husband really enjoys seeing how many stupid questions he can ask before the operator puts the phone down !
