Just to add to the discussions re wheels stolen from Landrovers:

Hi Jeff

I've spoken to the Landrover dealer about external spare wheels being stolen.  They now have a new locking mechanism that you can install for your spare tyre!!!

Thank goodness!!!

Nikki

Hi Jeff,

Re Crime Update today (10 April), some vehicles relock themselves if no door is opened shortly after unlocking with the key fob. On my 2002 Honda Accord the interval is 30 seconds.  This is a valuable protection against accidental unlocking.  No doubt some other makes also have this feature, but I don’t know which.

Regards,

Colin

Apparently Toyotas Do the same.

Hi Jeff

just wanted to say that, with my Toyota, if I unlock with the remote and don’t open a door within 30 seconds, the locks automatically reactivate.  Has your correspondent checked this.  It seems to be a great safety feature and I am sure that other manufacturers use the same system.
