Crime: 22 April 2013

We are suffering theft of bikes at the moment in two ways.  Firstly, from bike racks in the town centres / leisure Pools etc.  and Secondly, from sheds / garages.  Each has a different MO and probably therefore, carried out by different offenders. Either way, what we would like everyone to do is register their bikes online.  There are 2 national databases –  www.bikeregister.com and Immobilise.com.  Either will do.   The police can search both of these sites using a secure  police access.  If anyone out there has a bike worth more than say £500 this should be done asap.  If you have a bike worth  thousands of pounds, please do it now !  These are the bikes that are most targeted.  The process is very simple and in both cases FREE. We often see our known offenders riding bikes we know, they could not possibly afford to buy.

We would like to be able to stop check them and feed the serial number of the bike, into both of these databases.  This can be done on the spot using a police radio.  If those stopped cannot give a good explanation as to why they are riding a bike registered to someone else ....!!!!!

Help us to help you.  By registering your bike on one of these 2 National databases, you will be helping to bring this crime to an end.  As the databases are National, stolen bikes taken out of this area, will also be picked up. Think of it as vaccination !  The more bikes are protected, the less easy a disease is able to spread.  Protect yourself and everyone else.

Dog thieves daub letter 'K' on driveways to identify victims before stealing pets that can be sold on black market for £2,000 each

Lookouts are leaving the 'K' code in crayon or spray paint after finding valuable dogs worth stealing and selling in unwitting

owners' gardens in Alsager, Cheshire.

There are scams operating re sale of cars through Ebay and car magazines.  Please be alert and on your guard, when selling a car.

This was the reply we received from a potential purchaser, followed by the response from Autotrader:

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm Okay with the condition of the Car, as i have already go through it on the ad but just trying to
make little inquiry from you ready to buy it now for my Daughter, I'm at sea at the moment as I'm a Navy Officer, and due to the nature of my Job.....phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you a Text regarding it. I really want it to be a surprise for my Daughter i won't let her know anything about it until it gets delivered to her, i am sure she will be more than happy with it. the payment quickly, and sorry if you don't have an Account, you sign-up for a PayPal personal account
