Crime: 24 April 2013

To coincide with the TVP re-launch of Country Watch, PC Howard Rose and PCSO Liz Davidson have organised an event where TVP will be represented at the Berkshire College of Agriculture open weekend on the 27th and 28th April, in Burchett’s Green, Maidenhead.  It is expected that over 14,000 people will visit the event over the weekend.

This will be a great opportunity for the Maidenhead West Neighbourhood Team, to get local residents signed up on the spot to TVP alerts and Country Watch, using the new remote wireless ‘Alert Portal’ they will have with them.

Maidenhead West is a predominantly a rural area, with lots of farms and rural businesses, scattered around the outlying districts.  By setting up a TVP Mobile Police Point at the event, it is hoped that TVP can raise the awareness of rural crime and those initiatives that TVP have launched, to combat this problem.

The Neighbourhood Team have arranged for the PCSO mascots, PCSO Proud and PCSO Respect to be present, to engage with the younger visitors to the event.

Additionally, the LPA Volunteer Police Cadets will be on site, helping to run the event and raising their profile at the same time.

We hope to see everyone there.  Please come up and introduce yourself to us.

A message about coarse fishing out of season ??

Hello Jeff,

Yesterday & Saturday people were fishing the Colne Brook River, Wraysbury.

It is close season for coarse fishing so this is illegal. Might even be poaching !

Any one seeing people fishing should report it to the Environment Agency on  0800 80 70 60

Last year the E.A checked over 80,000 licences and prosecuted over 2,700 licence cheats. They also prosecuted 138 people for poaching offences. Between them, they were ordered to pay fines of over £335,000.

The maximum fine for fishing without a licence is £2,500. The maximum fine for poaching is £50,000.

Any one over 12 must have a licence. A licence is cheaper than a fine.

Close season starts on 15th March & ends on 16th June.
