Arthritis Care

Arthritis Care is the UK's largest voluntary organisation working with and for all people with arthritis from every section of the community. Its mission is to empower people to take control of their arthritis, their lives and their organisation.

Arthritis Care has over 600 branches and constituted groups around the country.  There are two branches close to Cookham, Marlow Riverside and Maidenhead.  Both branches offer monthly get togethers and outings, where you can meet others who also face the daily problems of having arthritis.  In addition, Arthritis Care has four hotels, two in Scotland, one in Blackpool and one in Poole in Dorset.  All the hotels have been specifically adapted for those with arthritis.  There is a bi-monthly magazine Arthritis News.  Arthritis Care also offers special courses on 'Challenging Arthritis' and the charity is much involved in lobbying government to ensure that those with arthritis are considered in any new legislation.

Marlow Riverside Branch covers the Marlow, Bourne End and Cookham areas.  The branch meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm at St John Ambulance Hall, Station Road, Marlow.

The branches also need volunteers to drive people to meetings once a month, help at the meetings and outings, run the branch or to be involved with fundraising to keep the branches alive, so please volunteer just an hour or so a month if you can.  A Treasurer is urgently needed at Marlow Branch for example.
