Cookham Arts Club

The Cookham Arts Club was founded in 1941 for the study and encouragement of the arts in general, though nowadays there is strong emphasis on the visual, drawing, painting, sculpture etc. in all media.  The Club has a membership of around two hundred.

Monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at The Parish Centre, Church Gate, Cookham, Berks SL6 9SP.  November to February at 2 to 4pm and March to October 8 to 10pm .

The Cookham Arts Club offers a wide range of activities: monthly reunions devoted to such things as lectures and music recitals along with monthly outdoor painting days, fortnightly art workshops and occasional life classes, to name but a few activities.  There are outings to all the principal London Exhibitions at the Royal Academy, the Tate Gallery, the Mall and several others.

Artists at Work

Each year the Cookham Art Club has an Art Holiday for its members.

The principal event of the year however is the annual 10 day exhibition at the Pinder Hall, Cookham, which takes place during August.  This exhibition is open to members and non-members alike.  All work goes before a selection committee, but members are guaranteed one acceptance.  Standards and sales figures are high.

Ability ranges from beginner to professional, so everyone can join in.  Many established artists are able to look back at their early days in the Cookham Arts Club.
