  COOKHAM   PARISH   COUNCIL

Minutes of a Meeting of the

FINANCE & GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE

Held in the Community Room on Tuesday, 20th June 2006 following the Planning Meeting commencing at 7.30pm.

PRESENT:            Cllr M. Wellman (Chairman)

Cllrs: M. Barnes, P. Brockwell, M. Coker, A. Prichard, J. Stretton and

H.J. Woodbridge.

1.         TO APPOINT A NEW CHAIRMAN: Cllr Barnes proposed Cllr Wellman to continue as Chairman of this Committee. This was seconded by Cllr Coker and agreed unanimously.

2.            APOLOGIES AND DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST: Apologies were received from Cllrs Harris and Innes. There were no Declarations of Interest.

3.         TO DISCUSS FUNDING ARRANGEMENTS FOR LIGHTING OF THE WAR MEMORIAL IN COOKHAM: Cllr Wellman said that the Police may be able to give a sum of £500 or possibly £1,000 towards the cost of the lights for the war memorial. The quotes were reviewed and the cost would be £4994.54 for the mini feeder pillar complete with time controlled socket and Thron Mica recessed floodlights; £1163.16 for supplying all labour and materials to install a mini feeder pillar with time clock and rcd controlled socket plus a charge of £940.14 for the engineering service work. The on-going energy costs will go on the normal parish billing which powers the street lights. The Chairman said that the £3,700 held in reserves could be used to pay some of these costs. The energy issue was now sorted out and the reserved funds were available. It was AGREED for the Clerk to make enquiries with RBWM to see if there was any financial contribution that could further help with the bill. The Clerk would also make enquiries about the possibility of obtaining a grant although this could delay the project due to the complexity of the forms and the lengthy process.

PART TWO – CONFIDENTIAL (TO BE DISCUSSED UNDER SECTION 68
