_______________________________________________________________
OPEN
FORUM
– Mr Nick Jefferies from Moor Cottage, School Lane queried the Pln Appn
07/00238 for Wylie Cottage. He said that there was already a problem for
residents with parking during the day and chaos when the children were
taken and picked up from school. To add a nursing home to this area would
be outrageous. The Chairman confirmed to Mr Jeffries that the application
was for a nursery school.
Nick
Meakin then introduced himself as the new reporter for the Cookham pages
in the Maidenhead Advertiser. He said that the reporting on Wylie Cottage
in the previous week’s Advertiser contained incorrect information for
which he apologised. The confusion lay between himself and another
reporter who was covering for him. The background information supplied by
the Clerk had been mis-understood and mis-reported. Nick confirmed that
the Clerk had supplied no quotes concerning this application to the paper
and he also confirmed that he had spoken to Countryside Nurseries to
explain this. An apology to both the nursery and the Parish Council was
due to be printed in this week’s Maidenhead Advertiser. Cllr Woodbridge
thanked Mr Meakin for his apology.
Cllr
Ricardo queried whether a notice had been put up to advertise the change
of venue for tonight’s meeting. The Clerk said that no special notice
had been put up but the meeting had been advertised on the four parish
noticeboards as normal.

GOVERNMENT CONSULTATION FOR POST OFFICE NETWORK: Various
comments were made verbally by the Councillors. Cllr Ricardo said that we
will lose two shops in Cookham parish if we lose our post offices. Cllr
Innes said that our village shops were an amenity and must not close. Cllr
Ricardo called for reduction in business rates to make their business more
viable. Cllr Brockwell said that the core of the village tends to crumble
once the Post Office goes. Cllr Stretton made a proposition: Post Offices
are an essential part of village life and should be preserved at all
costs. VOTE: IN FAVOUR = 6 AGAINST = 2, ABSTENTION = 2.
3.
CHAIRMAN’S SUBMISSIONS: The
Chairman announced that there was a presentation from RBWM concerning
flooding issues and in particular regarding proposals for Strande Lane.
This presentation is on 27th February at 5.45pm. Cllr Ricardo
confirmed that these proposals would become a planning application soon
but he is not allowed to comment further because he lives in the flood
plain.
Cllr
Woodbridge thanked the Clerk for obtaining the documents relating to the
Station Hill footway plans.
The
meeting closed at 8.50pm.
