OPEN FORUM – Fiona Hewer spoke from the floor to express her concern over two areas in the parish where parking was becoming a serious issue. Firstly the corner of the Maidenhead Road and the entrance to The Pound often saw the pavements blocked by cars. Secondly, the junction of Halldore Road with Lower Road where the parked cars block the views and there have been several near misses. Cllr Hewer requested that the traffic team consider the problems on these two areas when they are next in Cookham .

David Ricardo spoke to request that the Council take up the case of two important buildings which have been left to become derelict by their owners. The first is “Goddans” at the top of Cookham High Street and the second is Noahs Boat House.

Mr Tord Norstrum spoke to summarise the many objections to Pln Appn 09/02133. His wife had already presented the Parish Council with a petition of seventy signatures all wishing to object to this development. Tord mentioned the size of the new building; the location on a busy road with a dangerous junction; the street scene with a building that would be three stories high; the limited parking at the rear and the serious impact on the privacy of the neighbouring homes.

Mrs Carole Lower of Rayleigh, Lower Road spoke to endorse Mr Norstrum’s comments. She was concerned about the potential build up of traffic around the Grange Road junction and mentioned that there had already been accidents involving pedestrians.
