PRESENT: One member of the public. _________________________________________________________________________ OPEN FORUM – Maria Wood spoke of her concerns on the speed of traffic on the Lower Road. She said the risk of a fatality was constant and the road was like a race track. She was up-dated by Borough Councillor John Stretton who acknowledged the delays due to the inclement weather in early January. He said that the speed recorder had been in place for two days and the Borough’s traffic officers were working on some different options for Lower Road. The next step was to display these boards and invite members of the public to register their preferences via a voting box. The boards would be in the corridor outside Cookham library and the Parish Office. Maria Wood said that two days for the speed recorder was not long enough. She called on the Borough to investigate other forms of traffic-calming such as flashing signs and she asked for the Police to carry out regular speed checks. She then spoke of the problem of dog fouling. Cllr Mandy Brar spoke of the worries of many parents with children at Cookham schools. Most of this year’s children had not been offered their first choice of Furze Platt and some parents were expected to travel across the Borough to Cox Green; Altwood; Desborough or even as far away as Datchet and Britwell. Cllr Harris spoke of a future planning application to pollard some willows on the edge of the NT car park at Marsh Meadow. This was a different application to the one the Council were considering tonight. 1. APOLOGIES AND DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST: Apologies were received from Cllr Kellaway. Cllr John Stretton declared an interest as a member of the MDC panel who reserves the right to change his mind at a later stage.
