PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes
of a Meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held at the
Community
Room on Tuesday 2nd December 2003 commencing at 7.35pm.
PRESENT:
Cllr R. Arthur (Chairman), Cllr H.J. Woodbridge (Vice Chairman),
Cllrs
M. Coker, G. Harris, A. Hay, R. Piercey, A. Prichard, J. Stretton and
M.
Wellman.
In
attendance:
Jane Griffiths (RBWM) and one member of the public.
OPEN
FORUM – Mr A. J. Wilson spoke about his concerns over the
heavy lorries using Cookham Bridge. Vehicles exceeding the 7.5 tonnes
limit were causing long term damage to the Bridge and environment. Mr
Wilson mentioned Bray Parish Council where they carried out a traffic
audit known as Lorry Watch. This involved volunteers recording a profile
of heavy goods vehicles and reported them to the Trading Standards Office
in Windsor. He also mentioned
Marlow Bridge where the vehicles restrictions prevent HGV’s using this
bridge. The Chairman said that Cookham Parish Council had discussed his
request last summer and concluded that a working party of volunteers would
be difficult to bring together. Cllr Coker mentioned automatic signage
used in Bucks and Cllr Woodbridge said he would like to take another look
at Cookham Bridge. Cllr Prichard welcomed Mr Wilson’s initiative and
said he would support a working party but it would be difficult to get
enough volunteers. The Chairman said that he would put this item back on
the agenda for the next Full Council Meeting in January 2004. Cllr
Stretton pointed out that Cookham Bridge is the property of RBWM and is
not strictly a concern of Cookham Parish Council.
The
meeting opened 7.55pm.
