COOKHAM
PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes
of a Meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE
held
at the Community Room on Tuesday, 7th October 2003 commencing
at 7.35pm.
PRESENT:
Cllr R. Arthur (Chairman), Cllr H. J. Woodbridge (Vice Chairman),
Cllrs. P. Brockwell, M.Coker, S.
Fairlie, G. Harris, A. Hay, M. Innes,
A. Prichard, J. Stretton, M.
Wellman.
In Attendance: Cllr M. Cubley (RBWM), Jane Griffiths
(Maidenhead Advertiser) and two members of the public.
OPEN FORUM: Mr
Jonathan Miall of Sutton Close commented on the recent withdrawal of Appn
No: 03/40810. He felt the decision not to proceed was a result of a
tremendous community response from both residents and parents of Holy
Trinity Primary School. He also commended the support of Cllrs Stretton
and Prichard. Mr Miall wished to place on record that should Vodafone
re-apply for a mast, time must be allowed for discussion and consultation
with residents, Councillors and other interested bodies. The mast should
be placed on acceptable sites such as the Orange mast at Widbrook and
White Place Farm where permission has been granted. Mast-sharing should
also be discussed and residents should be fully involved in the
pre-application Consultative process. Mr Miall mentioned the Stuart Report
which recommends a cautionary approach to proposed mast sites and urges
the Telecom companies to keep an open view about the health issues. Cllr
Coker then spoke to say that the problem with mast-sharing is that the
mast has to be sited higher to cover a wider area. Cllr Prichard said that
the company did not consult properly, for instance Holy Trinity Primary
School was invited to comment in July when they were away on their summer
break.
Mr Miall said that the residents were not against the masts and
wished to guard against a proliferation of them in one area. Cllr Stretton
congratulated the residents for over 200 letters and emails sent to the
Royal Borough.
