COOKHAM PARISH COUNCIL Minutes of a Meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held at the Parish Office on Tuesday, 19th November 2002 commencing at 7.30pm.
OPEN
FORUM The meeting opened with Mr Phil Coussans requesting that his neighbour, Mrs Furlong-Jones puts obscured glass in the side of the proposed new extension. Mrs Furlong-Jones confirmed that this alteration to the plans would be carried out. Mrs Palmer from Hillside also spoke about the reasons why they wish to extend their property. David Ricardo, speaking as a resident from Cookham Village requested two points to be included in the minutes. Firstly, could the Clerk ask the Police to take some action over the double parking in Cookham High Street making the junction with Berries Road even more dangerous. Secondly, could the Council take some action over the bad surface water in Sutton Road carpark. The Planning Meeting opened at 7.40pm. Cllr Gordon Harris declared a personal interest in 02/39453. PLANS CONSIDERED & DISCUSSED
Government
Consultation on Airport Strategy for the South East. Due to the urgency of this consultation, the Chairman invited the Council to comment on the Borough Council’s draft response. The Parish Council agreed with all the points stated in the draft and expressed their own concerns on congestion of roads in the area, increased flight activity over heavily populated areas and the short supply of hospitals should a major air disaster occur. Cllr John Stretton, a retired pilot, presented a paper on the issue of safety in our crowded skies and the implications of allowing air traffic to increase especially if a third runway is permitted. Cllr Stretton suggested that there is a finite limit to the number of aircraft that any airport can handle in safety. That limit, he says, has already been reached and at times exceeded. Cllr A. Prichard proposed to accept the Borough Council’s draft response and to add Cllr Stretton’s paper to our comments. This was seconded by Cllr M. Innes. The Clerk will present a response to the Borough Council. PLANNING DECISIONS
