 COOKHAM PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of a Meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held at the

Community Room on Tuesday, 16th March 2004 commencing at 7.35pm.

In Attendance: Kris Mullins (Maidenhead Advertiser) plus two members of the public.

OPEN FORUM: Caroline Woods, the owner of ‘Sideways’, spoke in support of her planning application no: 04/41514. She said that they had spoken to residents as well as the local Council in order to take everyone’s views on board. She felt that the new access road would give extra space to ease traffic problems and give more room for emergency services. The Borough Council gave them outline planning in principle, however, they are prepared to move the access road further towards ‘Sideways’, if necessary. She also said that the screening of bushes and shrubbery would remain in place where possible and everything would be returned to normal or even improved on what is there at present. The Chairman thanked her and said that these views would be taken in to account when the application was discussed.

CHAIRMAN’S SUBMISSIONS:

The Chairman spoke to register his concern that Mrs Pam Thomas from Cookham Library will be moved to another library against her wishes. The Parish Council has valued the assistance of Pam throughout the opening of the Community Centre partnership. Many people in the village are also unhappy at Pam being asked to move for no good reason. The Chairman asked the approval of the Councillors to bring the matter to the attention of Mr David Oram. Cllr Stretton said that we should register our objection in the strongest possible terms.

The meeting ended at 8.55pm.
