FORUM
– PC Val de Haan confirmed that an advertisement had been placed for an
additional policeman. The appointment should leave him free to concentrate
on policing the Cookham area. He presented the crime figures and mentioned
the area around the War Memorial in Cookham. The lack of street lighting
at this end of the High Street had shown that cars parked around the
memorial are more at risk of theft. The car park at Sutton Road was also a
top spot for crime as it was beyond the reach of the CCTV cameras. He said
that Cookham is now on the tasking sheet in an attempt to dissuade
potential crime. Some time was spent discussing the performance of the
CCTV cameras. Cllr Prichard confirmed that the cameras do move and do
work. Cllr Saintclair-Abbott, who lives in Cookham High Street, said that
the CCTV cameras had moved crime rather than prevented crime. Cllr Harris
came up with an excellent way to fool potential burglars at the War
Memorial – the details of which will not be recorded in these public
records! 1. Apologies and declarations of interest: Apologies were received from Cllrs: S. Fairlie, A. Hay, Mike Innes, D. Ricardo and J. Stretton. Cllr Brar declared an interest in the Planning Agenda as a Borough Councillor. Cllr Coker declared an interest in Appn No: 04/41719 because he represented Cookham Parish Council at the School Governor’s meetings.
2. PLANS TO BE CONSIDERED & DISCUSSED:
PLANNING DECISIONS
NOTICE OF LISTED BUILDING CONSENT
OTHER ITEMS: Cllr Wellman spoke to complain that the prospective developers of Appn No: 04/41514 did not get the chance to explain their plans under the new delegated powers recently adopted by the Royal Borough. Cllr Prichard said it was not a fair system because resident is not informed of their right to speak. Cllr Brar said she would make enquiries about the fairness of the new system. Cllr Brar also spoke to say that Sheila Magee of Thames Water would like to donate a bench to Cookham Dean. The Chairman said that whilst Cookham Parish Council would support her wish, most of the land in Cookham Dean belongs to the National Trust and permission would have to be sought with them. Cllr Harris, our Chairman of the Footpaths & Open Spaces Committee, advised Cllr Brar to contact the National Trust at Hughenden. He also queried who would pay the maintenance on the new bench. The meeting closed at 8.35pm. |
