Another Virus Alert!: I March 2001

Having had a virus alert from James Thompson, several more people in Cookham have had viruses, including the MTX virus, which can cause devastation. It gets sent to you from a friend, but is noticeable, as it tends not to have a subject. Also when you open it, there is no text, but just an attachment. This normally has a fairly straightforward name such as Reader Digest. Several end in .pif, but some end in .exe. If you don't have a virus protection consider getting one. One reader of cookham.com purchased McAfee from PC World and discovered it was twenty month's old. This was not until they had picked up a virus. So if you buy a virus scan, ensure that you update it regularly by downloading the regular update files from the internet.

Thank You All for Your Help: 13 February 2001

I think everyone who went to the trouble of mounting a display at the Pinder Hall History Exhibition on Feb 10th & 11th deserves a big thank you from the community for such an outstanding and professional exhibition.

And the community itself deserves a big thank you from the organisers for turning out in their hundreds to enjoy it.

Virus Alert!: 13 January 2001

James Thompson warns us to look out for the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs hahahaaa 95 hybrid virus. James has been hit twice already. The kak virus still seems to be making the rounds in Cookham and effects the Active X components. Another virulent virus that has been brought to cookham.com's attention and has struck in Cookham is the South Park virus, which displays a picture of South Park. It is easy to get rid of, but also destroys the registries, which are not see easy to get back!!

Another Bushism!: 1 January 2001

Bush says "If I was a dictator it would be done right away".

Bush says "95 per cent of our imports are from abroad".

"Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in terms of not
having it."
...Governor George W. Bush, Jr., 5/20/96

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."

impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
...Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

...Governor George W. Bush, Jr.

How I Miss You COOKHAM: 15 October 2000

After over 40 years living in Cookham we have now moved to Stroud, Glos and although it is a lovely spot, Cookham will always be my home.   I love to look at your website and to find out what is going on in the village, etc.

Keep the pictures and news coming.   It was wonderful to find you on the net.

A Few Changes to Cookham.com: 19 September 2000

There have been a few alterations to Cookham.com recently.

  • We have merged the B&B accommodation in with the pubs and restaurants, as there were only two items in the Accommodation category. It is now called Eat/Drink/Sleep on the menu.

  • We have got rid of the Chat, as it was not often used and sometimes took a time to actually update.

  • We have got rid of the Create Your Own Webpage, as it was not really used and a bit confusing.

  • A general link area has been set up on the Link to Us page for sites that may be of interest, but do not fall into any of the detailed links that we have on other pages.

  • If anyone is tentative about using parts of the website, we now offer HELPDESK  support. Just send your query, in total privacy, to the Webmaster@cookham.com

If you have anything you would like to see on the website that you feel would be of interest, please contact the Webmaster, or use any of the suggestion boxes at the end of most web pages. If you do not have an E-Mail address, you can send your suggestions from The Meet the Team page. Click here...

Help us to make Cookham.com the best community website in Britain.
