Derek Beaven lives in Maidenhead. Newton's Niece , his first novel, won a Commonwealth prize, while his second, Acts of Mutiny , was short listed for the Guardian Fiction Prize, and his third  If The Invader Comes , was long listed for the Booker in 2001.
