Title: Theft From Vehicle Advise
Post by: Thames Valley Police on December 20, 2017, 10:11:43 PM
We have had a number of offences committed in the area where insecure cars have been broken into and property stolen. Most offences of theft from vehicle are opportunist. If valuable possessions (eg, handbags, laptops, sat navs, iPods, mobile phones, cameras) are left on show inside a vehicle, it is much more likely to be targeted by thieves.

When leaving your car, close all windows and ensure that lock your car check it is locked before leaving unattended.

Park your car in well lit and busy areas where possible.
When parking at home, use your garage. If you don't have a garage, park in a well-lit area
Don't leave anything on display in your vehicle
Leave gloveboxes open if empty to show nothings inside
Take all your personal possessions with you
Remove sat nav holders and visible sat nav ring marks from windscreens
Fit an alarm or immobiliser to your car
Record the details of your property on the Immobilise website
Be aware of surroundings and if suspicious people seen then contact the police
Never leave valuable possessions such as handbags, laptops, phones or sat navs on show inside a vehicle. This makes it much more likely to be targeted by thieves. Even items of little value, such as shopping bags and clothing, may tempt a potential thief to break into the vehicle to see whether they contain anything worth stealing. Keep your possessions out of view, or take them with you.

I find the spelling and grammatical errors in this piece very depressing.
