Title: Braywick Lodge to welcome first residents
Post by: RBWM Press Release on January 18, 2018, 12:12:35 PM
A new facility helping people supported by the council move towards independent living will welcome its first residents.

Braywick Lodge will house four people and is designed to help residents transition to independent living from more comprehensively supported accommodation.

The first four residents are due to move into the self-contained property next week.

Cllr Ross McWilliams, principal member for housing and communications, said: “We are committed to helping residents lead fulfilling and independent lives.

“There are a host of support services offered in the borough to help residents get back on their feet. Braywick Lodge will offer those residents who have moved from John West House an opportunity to live in a more independent setting with support before successfully managing a tenancy elsewhere.

“By utilising the support services we commission residents needing help will be supported all the way from first arriving in our emergency night shelter John West House, into Braywick Lodge and then transitioning into a more permanent home.

“Residents will be encouraged to live more independently and offered support including help finding employment and working towards more permanent housing.”

Braywick Lodge will be used to support any residents who would benefit from it as they continue their journey to independent living.

Royal Borough officers treat each housing case individually and will always offer support appropriate to a resident’s needs.

The council will work with Open4You to deliver the service at Braywick Lodge.

David Haugh, managing director of Open4You, said: “We look forward to welcoming the first residents into Braywick Lodge and helping them continue the journey towards more independent living.

“By working with the Royal Borough we aim to provide an excellent service.”

Clearly an excellent step in the right direction for vulnerable folk.
But for me it begs the question re progress on rough sleepers in Windsor.
