Royal Borough residents are being invited to drop in and find out more about the wide range of local services and activities available to them at a series of showcase events to be held across the borough.

Your Independence Days are aimed at all members of the public who are considering their options for staying independent and are designed to help them to choose the care and support services which will best suit them and their lifestyle.

The events will provide a forum for community organisations, service providers, clubs and societies to show local people what they can offer by way of information and demonstrations of their services, activities or products as well as advice on issues such as preventing falls, keeping safe at home and staying healthy.

Cllr Simon Dudley, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, said:

"It is vital that residents are aware of the wide range of services and products available locally to help people to remain living independently in their own homes and these showcase events are a perfect way of doing just that.

"They will help to give people as much information as possible as well as providing advice on preventing falls and accidents in their home."

Your Independence Day events will take place on:

Thursday 10 March at Windsor Leisure Centre, Stovell Road, Windsor, 10am to 3pm
Monday 21 March at the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, 10am to 3pm.

Visitors to both events will be able to get advice from a census surgery between 11am and 1pm to answer any queries about completing the 2011 Census on 27 March.

Free tea, coffee and goody bags will be available and visitors can watch demonstrations of equipment and moving and handling techniques for carers and can join in with activities including ballroom dancing and de-stressing sessions.
