Does anyone know the nature of the development next to cookham bridge?. I could see no planning documents on the gates and the large drill seems to indicate the construction of something substantial such as a block of flats

You can search for it on the rbwm site:

From the description given that building is on the Bucks side of the bridge, it is nothing to do with RBWM as it is out of their jurisdiction.

As I remember planning permission was given some years ago for a 9 bedroom house. Have not seen any recent changes but they have taken a long time to start building.

I remember seeing planning for a nine bedroom house too. It was a long time ago as the house was knocked down quite a while back. I think there was to be a gym or something like included as well.

I have driven past that site many many times and rarely see a thing given that its protected by many large secure trees.   So ....... why would anybody have any objections to somebody building their dream home.   Is this going to be yet another posting of objections for the sake of objections.   Live and let live I say.   Mind you that drill make some very bizarre noises last weekend.   I thought a very large cat was being strangled.

The auger will be being used to create piles for the foundations to sit on.

The reference is 07/07820 on the Wycombe planning portal. The building is a 9 bedroom Tuscan style villa with many outbuildings. The frontage will have loys of glazing and a number of balconies.

Looks like they put in the first planning application in 2007 and then renewed in 2010.

Tudor Lea Ferry Lane Bourne End Buckinghamshire SL8 5DZ - for the erection of a detached 9-bed dwelling & linked building comprising boat house & gymnasium with guest accommodation over, swimming pool with associated plant room & changing rooms, workshop/garden store/double garage with staff accommodation over & detached double garage.

Ooh lovely, a Tuscan style villa in our lovely country village and on such a visual stretch of the Thames. Top marks to our local councils for yet another inappropriate passing of plans.
