The Environment Agency is proposing an extraordinary asset strip of 22 of it's lock keepers houses along the River Thames. Adam Benge our lock keeper has been there for fifteen years doing a really hard job for a very small amount of money and this will mean that he will have his house taken from him. Any suggestions as to how we can change the Environment Agency's mind?

This is appalling new and dreadful for the Benges. It is also life-threatening to all river users Sad Would a petition help?

It's also entirely unsafe. If holiday lets are in there what interest do they have in the lock.  Noisy disco boats won't impress them. Loose children will worry them with water around. They won't appreciate knocks on the door from boaties asking for help/assistance either. What a dumb idea. Angry

The Maidenhead Advertiser have a write up at http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news/article-6189-lock-keepers-houses-to-be-sold/.
We could write to Eileen McKeever, Thames Waterways manager at the Environment Agency (EA). We could also e-mail/write to our MP Theresa May MayT@parliament.uk
