People from outside the area have arrived in Braywick.  They should be leaving on Thursday.

FIRST – a reminder that CryptoLocker is still very much with us !
Action Fraud – 15/06/2017 Westborough Road.  The aggrieved opened their computer to find a Ransomeware screen displayed and all their files encrypted.  The price for the encryption key – 0.5 of a Bitcoin – the current value at online auction - £1,000.  Usually, the only way to remove the virus is to reformat the computer, which means everything is lost ……… UNLESS THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN BACKED UP ON AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE !!!

Reformatting is not generally a problem for us – unless you run a business on the computer and all your business accounts, contacts, estimates, bills etc. will be lost.  The way to protect yourself from this – apart from never opening attachments in documents you do not recognise, is to back up your computer on an external hard drive – every month.  The process is really simple – you press a key and the computer does it itself !

SECOND – Nottingham Knockers !

We have been flooded with reports of Nottingham Knockers, right across the area over the last few days !

It is illegal, for anyone to sell products door to door (apart from books & food) without a ‘Pedlars Certificate’.  Pedlar’s Certificates can be issued by any police force across the country, for use anywhere.  They will only be issued, to someone of ‘excellent character’.  So – anyone at your door who tells you they are just out of prison and are making their way – cannot have a Pedlar’s Certificate !  What they create, to make their door knocking appear legal – is a ‘Hawkers Licence’ or ‘Hawkers Authorisation’ – which are not worth the paper they are printed on.  Please remember our NHW Mantra:

I AM SORRY, I DO NOT BUY GOODS AND SERVICES AT THE DOOR !

If no-one buys anything from them, they won’t come back !

The RBWM Community Wardens have been carrying out ‘Community SpeedWatches’ right across the area on roads requested by residents.  One was carried one out on the 14th June on Courthouse Road between 6.45 p.m. / 7.30 p.m.  Dozens of cars were clocked and the speeds ranged from 33 mph – 37 mph.  We will carry out a PNC check on each car and send a letter to the registered owner, reminding them that speeding is an offence !

If you believe your road is being used as a rat run and people are speeding, let me have the name of your road as well as the day and time, you feel most speeding occurs (my police email address is below).  I will liaise with the RBWM Community Wardens and we will organise a Community SpeedWatch for your road !  You can even join them and use the speed gun yourself !
26/6  Monday 5 p.m.  Ray Mill Road West.  Someone has set light to an electrical box near the school entrance.

MAIDENHEAD WEST
