The Royal Borough’s sports and arts bursary schemes are once again accepting applications from young residents.

Nominations are being sought to develop youngsters’ skills as artists, or musicians, and for young people involved in all sports, and their coaches, to apply for funding to support them in their chosen field of expertise.

This year’s bursaries are available via online applications. Applicants need to be aged 25 or under, residents in the borough, and be able to show how they would benefit from a grant of up to £250. The closing date this year for applications is Friday 14 July 2017. The funding is kindly supported by The Louis Baylis Charitable Trust.

Arts funding can be used for anything from lessons to equipment, materials and even rehearsal space. Sports cash can be used for things like new kit and coaching fees to help sportsmen and women achieve their full potential from county or equivalent level up to Olympic/Paralympic level.

Cllr Samantha Rayner, cabinet member for culture and communities, said: “We are immensely proud in the Royal Borough of the great talent we have and the dedication to striving for excellence.

“We have some outstanding athletes, coaches and young performers who would really appreciate and benefit from one of these bursaries.

“If you are or know someone who is eligible for funding please encourage them to apply or make them aware of the funding opportunities we have available.”

There are also bursaries to support those coaches who deliver a significant amount of coaching within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.

Nominations are also invited for the annual lifetime achievement award presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to sport in the borough over a number of years.

Full details on the funding and how to apply can be found on the council’s website: Sports: https://www3.rbwm.gov.uk/sportsbursary and arts: https://www3.rbwm.gov.uk/info/200842/cultural_grants/258/arts_bursary_funding_and_grants

The award winners will be presented with certificates in Kidwells Park, Maidenhead on Friday 18 August.
