As several people may have noticed the Millennium clock by the railway station has stopped working. Apparently the clock is/was powered by the electricity supplied by the office adjoining the ticket office.
which is all closed due to dry rot and could be for many months (years even)!

It seems GWR who own the building is not being very helpful about this. Has anyone got any bright ideas of how we could get the clock running or should we fund raise for another one?

Find an electrician who can disconnect from the station and reconnect to a supply on the mains outside?

If GWR won't let anyone in to disconnect due to I assume Health and Safety that will not work.

Amazing isn't it. GWR has just electrified the whole set of tracks from London to Maidenhead but can't help us electrify a clock on their building!

Paris, I assume that if we were to connect the clock outside someone would be responsible for the electricity and we would have to pay them. I am not sure if there is a connection we could use that is not owned by GWR.

Why not relocate the clock, say to the Cookham Social Club.Or fit it with solar power.
Come on, surely there is a bright spark in the village that could solve the problem. Has anyone officially approached GWR with the problem! If not! Why not!

James, the Parish Council are in charge of the clock and have talked to GWR.

Good! I am glad to hear it. Maybe Parish Council will spare a few minutes to keep the Parish informed of progress if any.

Roger, so the parish wasn't paying GWR for the electricity, I find that a bit strange. Probably best to move it in that case as someone in a tiny office somewhere might start doing sums and decide to charge for all the power used since 2000!

I have not got a clue if the Parish Council were paying for the electricity. I assumed they were.
