Are there any volunteers out there who'd be willing to help give a spruce up to the space in front of the pony field? This is the first view that many people see of the village when they come into Cookham and it would be great to at least try and clear some of the weeds and rubbish away from the verge. Was Sunday 12 November at 10am. (Changed to 19 November at 10am). If you are able to spare an hour this could make a massive difference to this area (that we are all fighting hard to stop being developed around)! Please reply to webmaster@cookham.com if you would like to help.

Still not too late to volunteer to help with the spruce up at the front of the pony field! Sunday 19th November 10am.

Don't forget to bring a camera as well to show the work in progress. Then send your results to the webmaster or to me at willow1930@outlook.com. Then I can transform it into one of my You Tubes. The more publicity we get the better.

Aren't either the parish council it rbwm supposed to take care of the verges?  I totally understand why it needs cleaning up, but for volunteers to do it when there is a local authority with a responsibility?

Never the less Paris, it will show that the villagers do care enough to act.

Very true James.

But, we pay enough in taxes for this sort of thing.

But... whoever owns that filed, they like it to look like rubbish - as it creates an eye sore with the excuse for them to keep pushing through planning permission.

Why cant the owner allow someone to rent it and graze it ?

Was this field not used for the old Cookham riding school lessons....?

Way back in the day, there was a riding school there. Then it was used a the club field for the now closed Cookham Riding Club. They used it for jumping and flatwork, with members competitions too from time to time. That's why it is known as the pony field because the show jumps were always out for members to use.
