The centres of both Cookham and Cookham Dean have been designated as Conservation Areas because they are worth preserving. In both Conservation Areas open green space constitute an important part of the landscape and character of the area and should not be eroded by incremental new development. Two new Planning Applications (18/00554 and18/00770) have been submitted for the construction of additional large houses by splitting private gardens in Berries Road and Warners Hill. If you agree with us that these are inappropriate developments, you can register your objection with the Borough.

NEW HOUSES FOR BERRIES ROAD & WARNERS HILL?
In April we posted about these applications for the construction of additional large houses by splitting private gardens in the Conservation Area. The good news is that the Borough has refused permission for the new house adjacent to Chestnuts, in Berries Road (Application 18/00554).

Appn. Date:   20 March 2018   Appn. No.:   18/00554
Type:   Full
Proposal:   New dwelling
Location:   Land At Chestnuts Berries Road Cookham Maidenhead
Parish/Ward:   Cookham Parish/Bisham And Cookham Ward

You will recall that you made representations on the above application.

I am now writing to thank you for your comments and to let you know that they were taken into account by the Council when considering this application.

The Council also took into account all other relevant factors, including the policies in the Development Plan, and in this case the proposed development was considered unacceptable.  The application was therefore refused on 7 August 2018

UNQUOTE

No appeal will allegedly be considered by the applicant.
Good news.
