from Cookham Parish Council

7.50pm Friday 7th December The Environment Agency has issued a Flood Alert for the River Thames from Hurley to Cookham.

The River Thames upstream at Cookham Lock is at 14cm.     This is much below the level at which serious community problems like the closure of the Moor Road occur (100cm).  Cookham Parish Council Flood Committee is watching the situation closely.  We are surprised to see that we are the only area in Berkshire on Flood Alert. Normally if there is a problem on the Thames, the Cut, Datchet and other areas are on flood alert too. Please report any flooding problems in Cookham to cookhamflood@gmail.com .The next text is the EAs, and tther is more information on the https://cookhamfloodwarnings.blogspot.com/

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency.

Flood Alert in force: River Thames from Hurley to Cookham.

Flooding is possible for: River Thames from Hurley to Cookham including Harleyford, Bisham, Marlow and Bourne End.

Be prepared.

Property flooding is not currently expected. Levels on the River Thames have been rising slowly throughout the day in response to recent rainfall.. It is expected to be relatively dry overnight and into tomorrow morning. Levels are expected to continue to rise tonight and flooding of low lying land and roads is possible tonight (07/12/2018), especially in the Hurley area.

We are constantly monitoring river levels. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings, flood waters may be deep and fast flowing. Please refer to River and Sea levels in England for current levels. This message will be updated by the end of tomorrow morning if not before.

Well that didn't last long!

The Environment Agency has announced that its Flood Alert for the River Thames from Hurley to Cookham is no longer in force and so this incident is now closed. No flooding is now expected in this area.
