The new timetable starts this weekend and the big new improvement to the service from Cookham is that the first off-peak train of the day, the 0925 will now take an astonishing 67 minutes to get us to Paddington. That's a full 17 minutes longer than the average off-peak journey time! On top of that the new connecting train, the 0948 from Maidenhead is notoriously unreliable, here's a sample of its actual running times over the past few weeks...

19th march cancelled
28th march 0957
2nd April 0950
7th April 1001
8th April 0958
9th April 0953
14th April 0953
15th April 0955
17th April 0953
28th april 0959
2nd May 0952
8th May 0951
Today - on time Smiley

So the actual journey time is quite likely to be even longer!

This is very obviously an attempt by FGW to raise profits by forcing passengers to use the earlier 0853 peak rate service. If you feel strongly about this please email FGW or pick up a leaflet from Barry at the station.
