In order to address the pressures of local demand for playing-field space at the Alfred Major Recreation Ground (referred to above) and for more, formal sports facilities, we recommend that some of the flat land in the Green Belt adjoining the existing Cricket Pitch should be used for this purpose and include car parking. Enlargement or replacement of the Cricket Pavilion could service these additions, on a site which is well away from houses. We are aware that the intrusion into the Green Belt is a very sensitive matter, but we believe this to be a permitted use. We are also aware of the cost implications and that the proposed land is privately-owned.

We believe that more community use could be made of the existing playgrounds and open playing-fields which are attached to our schools.

We recommend the creation of children’s playgrounds at Cookham Dean and Holy Trinity Primary Schools.
