ELTA Questionnaire - Jan 2004

WITH-PROFITS ANNUITANTS QUESTIONNAIRE.

If we are to take effective group action to obtain compensation for trapped Equitable WPAs we need much more information on the experiences of fellow members.

At present those of us, who have complained, have been brushed off one by one. We do not know how many, how they have complained or the ways in which they have been fobbed off. We have strong evidence that most WPAs had very little idea of how much risk they were taking on and that they were given a very hard but subtle sales pitch by Equitable’s sales representatives in favour of taking out with profits annuities. If we can obtain enough answers we should be able to show how many people were mis-sold with profits annuities and which in turn prevents the Society arguing that these risks were explained to us. One person might have mis-understood but not several hundred!

Could we ask you to complete this form and return it as soon as is possible by:

a)      e-mail to: TBalkwill5310448@aol.com

b)      post to: Tim Balkwill, Mid Comp Farm, Comp Lane, Sevenoaks, Kent. TN15 8QT

If you know any annuitants who are not in contact with ELTA via e-mail, could you print out this sheet and give it to them for completion. Perhaps you can help them or alternatively they can ask a relative or friend to them by going to a Cyber Café, your local library, one village you know of, your local church in order to access information on what is going on.

For all of our sakes, your co-operation is urgently requested, if we are to protect our rights.

The information given by you in this questionnaire will not be used for any other purpose apart from compiling anonymous statistics to assist in making the general case for all WPAs.  Under no circumstances will you be identified in any way as having made a particular comment and nothing will be done in your name without your express permission in writing.

Please feel free to express your opinions on the way this questionnaire could be improved and add any other relevant comments.
