“A village made in heaven” - Stanley Spencer’s view of Cookham, was the theme for today’s BBC Radio 4’s Sunday Worship. Broadcast live from Holy Trinity Church, Cookham, the service celebrated the spirituality of painter Stanley Spencer, on the fiftieth anniversary of his death. The preachers were Canon David Winter and Father Michael Smith, with music directed by Sara Wood. The service focused on the life and work of Spencer and was a memorable and moving tribute to England’s greatest religious painter.

The programme can be heard until Saturday May 2nd on http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qnds
