Crime:
21 January 2011
A
much better end to the week – lets hope everyone remains alert over the
weekend.
We have charged certain individuals today with 6 offences, ranging from
Robbery to theft from cars. We are continually doing our bit, we need you
to help us by reporting anyone out and about who is up to no good !
Re car crime – you
will see from the crimes below, 3 of the cars were left insecure !
I asked the
Priority Crime Team if the owners of these cars believed they had locked
them and something has happened – the answer ? No, the owners had left
them unlocked ! As I keep pointing out – that becomes a ‘crime
attractor’ to your road and Neighbourhood. Easy pickings – the
thieves don’t even have to break in – they simply open the car door ! This
makes the Police’s life very difficult and results in the increased
crime headlines, you may have seen this week. Increased
crimes, means…….more victims of crime. It is bad enough having your
life disrupted by being a victim of crime, but if it is your fault and
could easily have been avoided by doing something everyone else does as a
matter of course, it must make it 100 times worse. Everyone is expected to
protect their hard earned property – locking a car isn’t hard, nor is
it expensive &nda sh; the locks come free with the car !!!
As you can
see in Lower Cookham Road, they found a car unlocked one night and came
back the next, to commit a burglary as well as try other cars – they
were lucky ! If they had never been in nor attracted to the road –
no easy pickings, the burglary and other car crimes in that area, may
never have happened.

Burglary via forced small side window, reaching in to open a larger window
– 2 laptops and a large amount of cash stolen.
Suspicious individuals out and about
and must be reported immediately to the police, so that we can carry out
an Area Search and locate them.
If you see a crime in these lists, it means ‘Opportunist Thieves’ are
about in that community – someone walking a dog, dropping kids
off somewhere, looking out of windows, must see them. They do not have a
magic transporter, like the one in Star Trek. They have to walk around
looking for possible targets – that is when we need your calls to give
us the grounds to stop them and ask what they are doing and why they are
in that location. If nothing else, it will deter them from offending and
they may chose pastures new.
We had a manhole cover lifted in a busy Windsor street and
thieves pulled out 150 metres of copper cable in broad daylight.
No-one saw anything - even when the stood and rolled it up, loaded into a
car / van and drove off. Walking around with a Hi Viz jacket, clip
board / fake ID makes that person invisible. They must be officials
doing whatever they are doing. Next time just take a closer look -
We can also stop check anyone wearing Hi Viz !
Have a good weekend.
