Crime: 29 June 2011

A few things to mention.

Firstly - we seem to have had a series of churches broken into in rural locations. The thieves have targeted the safes hoping to steal gold and silver church plate. They have used considerable force and caused a lot of damage. These appear to have been carried out on a Sunday evening after services and 2 churches have been targeted each time:
St Mark’s - Bourne End, St Paul’s - Woburn Green, St Peter’s - Knowl Hill, St John’s - Littlewick Green, St Mary’s - Hurley & St James’ – Maidenhead.

If you have any connection with rural churches, can you have a word with them to make sure nothing is left in the safes over the weekends, for the foreseeable future. If they have valuable plate, it must be secured at this time.

Secondly – You will have been receiving messages about your Neighbourhood Community Consultations, with a link to Survey Monkey to complete the online questionnaire. The results so far are disappointing. If Neighbourhood Policing is to work and deal with local issues, the Team needs to know what those issues are !
The results so far are:
Riverside & Belmont Returns so far – 127 Closing date Today !
Oldfield & Bray Returns so far – 210 Closing date 15/7

Thirdly – More lead thefts overnight ! Can everyone be extra vigilant looking out for flatbeds and people on roofs in the early hours. How do they get up there ? Please phone through any properties with ladders up to the roof in the early hours for the time being and let us check them out.– PEC 0845 8 505 505 I have attached Caroline’s advice sheet about lead theft.
