I have received a request from the Borough to put out the following message:

The Maidenhead & Cox Green Neighbourhood Planning Group would be very grateful if you could put a message out to your members in this area, inviting people to get involved.

The website www.maidenheadplan.org gives full information about the initiative. The Neighbourhood Plan is one of the first in the country with central government support, using new powers granted under the Localism Act. The Neighbourhood Plan will be used to help decide planning applications in the area.

There are 4 Topic Groups for:

- Housing, Built & Natural Environment

- Business & Shopping

- Community, Leisure & Countryside

- Transport

29 volunteers have already signed up to help draft policies in these topics, and more are being sought. Topic Groups members will research issues, come up with options for solutions and draft the policies to go in to the final plan.

Would you be willing to circulate this information?

Many thanks

Henry

A new scam – in response to advertisements for items for sale:

Hi Jeff

My daughter recently placed an ad re selling her car and received the following email:

Hi there, Thank you for getting back to me.  Can you assure me that it's in good state and that I will not be disappointed with it.  I'm ready to pay your asking price and to be honest, I wanted to buy this for someone very close to me, but the issue is I am an oceanographer………..  The contract is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area. But I'm able to access email anytime as we will make use of laptop so my only quickest payment option is PayPal as i can send money via PayPal anytime.  Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all the PayPal fee/charges on this transaction and if you don't have an account with PayPal its pretty easy, safe and secured to open one.  Just log on to www.paypal.com. I hope we can make the purchase as fast as possible? I have a mover that will come for it once payment clears and they will get it to my son's location safely, So I look forward to hear from you soon.

When she replied that she would not be parting with the car until the money was in her bank account she heard no more from them.  She checked it out and found it was a scam, but one we hadn't heard of.  Thought it might be worth making people aware.

Thanks

Brenda

The Police Cadets have been really busy last Month:

On Saturday 25th August and Sunday 27th August 2012 the Thames Valley Police Voluntary Cadet Corp were out in large numbers at LEGOLAND Windsor conducting a Joint Operation with LEGOLAND Security in deterring and educating guests in a Car Crime Prevention Operation.

Sergeant Dalton who led the team of Cadets had over 10,000 Guests on Saturday and over 20,000 Guests on Sunday reminding drivers to remove their valuables from their vehicles as part of the Police’s ‘Nothing to See’ Clear Car Campaign’. Once the majority of Guests had entered the park, Officers and Cadets had visited the car parks recording vulnerable vehicles. Sergeant Dalton had said “ We were surprised to see over 67 vehicles had left their  Sat Navs, purses, wallets, handbags and many more on display and shocked at a few that had not even locked their cars, or left their car doors open unattended”?

During their weekend they also had conducted a ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) Operation as part of the Cadets ongoing training in where thousands of vehicles had passed. There were 74 ‘Hits’ on the ANPR for various offences. (A small number of drivers were dealt with for a number of infringements).

On Wednesday (29th) the Cadets were celebrating their first anniversary of being together since PCSO Woodland and Sergeant Dalton had put the scheme together in January 2010. The Cadets were put through their paces in a number of scenarios including Burglary, Crime Prevention, Thefts, First Aid, Stop and Search and more putting to the test their knowledge on what they had learnt since last year.

Successfully helping at the Ascot retirement fair, litter picking in Ascot and supporting local communities the Cadets have had a busy Summer Holiday completing hundreds of hours of community work.

They rounded off the evening with a BBQ in where parents and sponsors were invited.

If your son or daughter would like to join the Windsor and Maidenhead Police Cadets Sergeant Dalton and his team are holding a recruitment event on Sunday 16th September at Windsor Police Station between 10am-12pm and at Maidenhead Police Station between 1pm-3pm. You could also go to the Thames Valley Police website at www.thamesvalleypolice.co.uk and complete an application form and send it in (details on the application form).

More reports of the ‘baby seat beside the roadside’ email circulating.  Please disregard it – even though it has a Police header.  It is a form of ‘cyber terrorism’, circulated to keep us in a permanent state of anxiety.  If you receive anything like it – and there are dozens – bin them.  You can always check on:

http://www.hoax-slayer.com/infant-car-seat-gang-warning.shtml

Or type a few of the words in to Google – they will then show up as a scam.
